To Our Wonderful Yoga Loft Students and Friends:
Today, we write to tell you that while the journey will continue, it's the end of an era. We are very sorry to announce, due to the impacts of Covid 19 on our business, Yoga Loft is unable to maintain our lease at the Capitol Lake location and will permanently close at this month's end.
Early in this pandemic we'd hoped for a return to normalcy by fall.
As we are now seeing, "normalcy" looks as far away as ever. Your generous donations to our virtual classes have helped, but after paying our full lease with overhead of $5000 a month, for the past 6 months we eventually had to face the hard financial realities that are now being shared by many small businesses. We considered a number of fund-raising ideas but we could not face accepting money and still not have the business be able to open, perhaps well into 2021. We would then feel like we've squandered the generosity on renting an empty, but well-loved space, and who knows the Yoga Loft may resurrect in another location at a later date.
We can recall with perfect clarity the cloudy fall day when we first opened our doors and welcomed our friends and neighbors to join our journey of discovery through yoga. What started as a dream and a dare became so much more than we ever imagined - Yoga Loft became our calling and our community and a huge, wonderful part of our lives. Thinking of all the memories we've shared over the past 11 yrs. fills our hearts and souls.
We filled the Capitol Rotunda with our Oms and intentions.. We moved under a Blue Moon and celebrated Solstices and Equinox. We healed old wounds, made new friends, and nourished our minds, bodies, and spirits, together. Most of all, the ride's been a dream come true, and for that we deeply thank all of you.
We believe there is still much untapped potential in creating our online community. It will never replace what we had before, and while that's sad, it can also be liberating. We are happy to say Yoga Loft's online classes will continue, and we will be expanding our schedule and adding new instructors. We encourage anyone who hasn't yet tried an online class to give it a try, it might be different than you think. See
In closing, we again want to thank all of our students, teachers, and friends for building this sacred space together. Having the Yoga Loft is one of our greatest experiences. We hope we still have your support after this incredibly difficult decision.
Blessings One and All, Maureen (Mo) and Gerry Oar
